The first time in Texas, for one night only, world-renowned saxophonist JON IRABAGON!

The winner of the 2008 Thelonious Monk Saxophone Competition, Irabagon has since topped both the Rising Star Alto Saxophone and the Rising Star Tenor Saxophone categories in the DownBeat Magazine Critics’ Poll and been named one of Time Out New York’s 25 New York City Jazz Icons. Jon was also named 2012 Musician of the Year in The New York City Jazz Record and is an integral member of such high-profile ensembles as: the Mary Halvorson Quintet, Septet and Octet; the Dave Douglas Quintet; and Barry Altschul’s 3Dom Factor.

Jon will be performing a set of solo saxophone music as exemplified on his recent release "Inaction is an Action," as well as a quartet set featuring music from his recent quartet release "Dr. Quixotic's Traveling Exotics" (both available now from Irabagast Records).

Quartet set to feature Irabagon alongside Jon Lundbom on guitar, Sam Pankey on bass, and Richard Huntley on drums. Interstitial music curated and spun by Violet Sound.

Sighted Men is a loose collective of 15 musicians arranged by Daniel Dufour, Steve Terebecki, and James Petralli that will improvise in various combinations over the course of the evening of June 14 at the Radio Milk Recording Company.

There will be two drum sets, percussion, acoustic and electric pianos, upright and electric basses, pedal steel, electric guitars, vibraphone, trombones, saxophone, and trumpet on the stage with musicians entering and exiting as the music demands.

This will be night of musical exploration and freedom showcasing some of the city’s finest improvisers. All of the players on this gig are *so *very *heavy, and we are thrilled to be able to host such an event. We will be capturing the performance inside the studio with intent to further expand the music in post production and manufacture and release vinyl records down the road.
