Jeffrey Olson's "Double Cognate" live at Monks
Jeffrey Olson's "Double Cognate" is a new experimental group intended to explore the boundaries of jazz. 7 musicians playing together for the first time, finding their way to the last note. The ensemble will perform two sets of guided improvisation, developing original themes as well as melodic samples from the rich avant-garde jazz canon.

Monks is a pop-up jazz listening room that hosts a variety of acts at Topology. Featuring a 5'7" 1946 Knabe Grand Piano, backline, custom made furniture, bar menu, and whisper-policy, this experience is aiming straight for the small jazz listening rooms of NYC and beyond.There are plenty of venues to have a conversation across a table, but Monks is not that place! As such, we enforce a strict whisper-policy during performances out of respect to our audience and the performers.
